Virtualisation sized against the workload, not the catalogue
vSphere design, migration, consolidation and support — including honest advice on where the licensing now makes sense and where it no longer does.
VMware, from design to day-to-day
vSphere design
Host sizing, cluster design, storage and networking, built from measured CPU, memory and IOPS rather than a rule of thumb.
Migration and consolidation
Physical to virtual, host refreshes and cluster consolidation, planned with a rollback point at every step.
Storage and networking
SAN, NAS and vSAN, distributed switching, and the segmentation that keeps management traffic where it belongs.
High availability and DR
HA, DRS and replication designed against agreed recovery objectives, and then tested rather than assumed.
Backup integration
Backup designed with the hypervisor rather than bolted on. See Veeam.
Operation and support
Patching, firmware, capacity review and change management under a written service agreement.
We will tell you when to stay and when to move
VMware licensing has changed, and for some estates the economics no longer work. Pretending otherwise would cost you money.
- We model the five-year cost of staying on vSphere against the alternatives, using your real host and core counts
- Where vSphere remains right — and for many production estates it does — we say so and optimise the licensing
- Where it does not, we migrate to Hyper-V or Proxmox, both of which we design, build and support
- A migration is planned as a project with a rollback point, not attempted over a weekend
- Either way, the decision comes from your numbers, not from what we would prefer to sell
Common questions
Should we leave VMware?
Sometimes. It depends on host count, core count, the features you actually use and what your applications are certified against. We run the comparison on your figures and show you the working.
Can you migrate us to Proxmox or Hyper-V?
Yes. We design, build and support all three, which is why the recommendation is not predetermined.
Can you take over an existing vSphere estate?
Yes, starting with documentation and a health check. Most estates we inherit have undersized hosts and oversized licences.
Do you supply the licences?
Yes, alongside the hardware, with renewal dates tracked rather than remembered.
Send us the host and core counts.
That is enough for us to model the five-year cost of staying against the cost of moving, before anyone commits to either.
