Network Design

Network design

Design the network before you buy the boxes

Site survey, traffic and application profile, then a design with capacity, resilience and segmentation decided on paper — not discovered after the equipment arrives.

What we do

A design is a set of decisions, written down

Most network problems in Egyptian offices and plants are design problems that were never made explicit.

  • Physical and logical topology — core, distribution, access, and where the boundaries sit
  • Capacity: what the links actually need to carry today, and what headroom you are paying for
  • Resilience: which failures the design survives, and which ones it does not — stated plainly
  • Segmentation: VLANs, routing boundaries and the security zones they enforce
  • IP addressing plan, naming and documentation you can hand to the next engineer
  • Vendor selection last, once the requirement is known — not the other way round
How it runs

Four steps

1. Survey

We walk the site. Cabinets, cable routes, power, cooling, distances, existing kit and how it is actually being used.

2. Requirement

Applications, user counts, traffic patterns, growth, and what downtime costs you. This is the part that sizes everything.

3. Design

Topology, capacity, addressing, segmentation and a bill of materials with the reasoning attached to each line.

4. Handover or build

Take the design to any integrator, or have us build it. Either way the documentation is yours.

Before you ask

Common questions

Will you design around kit we already own?

Yes, where it makes sense. We will also tell you where existing equipment is the constraint rather than the saving.

Do you only design networks you build?

No. A design and bill of materials is a deliverable on its own. Several clients tender the build separately.

How long does a design take?

For a single site, typically two to four weeks from survey to signed-off design. Multi-site depends on how many sites need surveying.

Can you redesign a network that is already live?

That is most of what we do. It becomes a migration plan as well as a design.

Start with the survey.

A survey and a written requirement change every number in the quotation that follows. Call and we will arrange one.
